WHAT IS THE PUMPING TEST FOR?

The pumping test is used to evaluate the hydrodynamic properties of the aquifer from which your well draws its water. It was developed to determine your well's capacity to provide a reliable and consistent water flow. The pumping test is popular with prospective buyers of properties supplied by artesian wells. Homeowners who are dissatisfied with their well's current water flow may also use the pumping test to determine the necessary course of action.

WHAT DOES THE PUMPING TEST CONSIST OF?

Using various measuring instruments, including a piezometer, Puits Christian Monette assesses several hydrological properties of the well. Lasting between 2 and 4 hours (artesian wells sometimes require a 24-hour evaluation period), the pumping test determines the amount of water available in the well, taking into account, among other things, the following characteristics:

  • The depth of the well.

  • Pump calibration.

  • The static water level (in reserve).

  • Storage capacity.

  • The characteristics of the pump.

Following the pumping test, Puits Christian Monette will provide you with a summary of the information collected and will be able to support you in your subsequent steps, should the water flow not suit you.
