ANALYSIS OF YOUR DRINKING WATER

When water comes from an artesian well and is intended for human consumption, it must be of good quality and meet the standards set out in the Drinking Water Quality Regulation. In fact, under section 3 of this regulation, the property owner must provide potable water to their family and visitors. The Ministry recommends having your water tested by an accredited laboratory.

• Test your water at least twice a year. The recommended times are spring, during the snowmelt, and autumn, during heavy rainfall. However, you can have your water tested at any time of year. A bacteriological analysis will determine if your water is safe to drink by detecting invisible contaminants that could harm your health and the health of your loved ones. The presence of pathogenic bacteria or chemical contaminants in drinking water can lead to serious health problems, such as gastroenteritis.

Preparation: Use only the sterile bottles provided. Remove the aerator (jet breaker) from the tap if possible.

Disinfection: Clean the tap with alcohol or a chlorine solution to prevent external contamination.

Sampling: Let the cold water run for 2 to 3 minutes to flush the pipes.

Filling: Open the sterile bottle, fill it without exceeding the indicated line (do not rinse the bottle, as it contains a preservative).
